Las medidas de WhatsApp para darle batalla a las "fake news"
El mensajero de Facebook procura barrer con la información falsa que circula sobre la pandemia y crea un centro de información sobre el coronavirus
Uno de los tantos desafíos que impone el brote del coronavirus, calificado como pandemia por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), es ofrecer información certera y frenar el alcance de los datos engañosos y/o confusos, sobre todo en redes sociales y servicios de mensajería.
En esta línea, WhatsApp, el mensajero de Facebook, que es utilizado por cerca de 2 mil millones de usuarios, busca dar batalla a las fake news.
¿Cómo? Según cuentan en Phone Arena, diseñaron un centro de información sobre el coronavirus, con la intención de filtrar las publicaciones y noticias falsas relacionadas a la temática.
La mencionada plataforma de información (podés acceder a ella en este enlace) fue creada por WhatsApp en colaboración con la OMS, Unicef y el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo (PNUD).
Además de ofrecer datos generales sobre la pandemia y consejos de prevención, ese espacio brinda acceso a líneas directas para que los usuarios envíen mensajes de texto y reciban orientación directa de especialistas y organismos oficiales.

We’re grateful to @who @undp @unicef for coordinating the response to this crisis including using @WhatsApp to do so. Already several ministries of health are providing updates to citizens on WhatsApp and we will expand these services together.

We have also made a $1m donation to @IFCN to expand the presence of local fact checkers on @WhatsApp. There are over a dozen so far, and we want more to be able to do their important work so rumors are identified and countered.
